I had an idea the other day for a macro that would; 1. scan targets health 2. select closest rank of predetermined heal spell 3. cast said predetermined spell on target now this could, in theory, also be used for damaging nuke spells but after searching for a few days i couldn't find any such macro, so i was wondering if it would be possible for an add-on? I searched all the main sites under all combat and classes sections, and no luck what I would like to see, if possible, would be; 1. a button put on my ui wherever i want it 2. linked to a spell in my book 3. and cast appropriate rank of spell on target, based on targets health and if all of that is possible, it'd be super kool to be able to replace spells on LS with the new smart spell buttons thanx for any time you can spare this idea-o-mine [I'm still not sure if it's possible or not] and if this has been answered before, sorry bout that ;D i sleep little and play alot

Since both healing and damage spells use now a percentage of your base mana respectively lower spells use more mana than higher spells (at least partially), you do either less heal/damage or have higher mana costs while doing less heal/damage.
Blizzard changed this with WotLK, have a look at your spellbook and check the different ranks.

Also, if you are in combat, an addon cannot pick a spell via logic decisions like what you want and cast them as needed. That was done away with with the WOW 2.0 code. The closest an addon could do like this would be to set the spell button if you are out of combat, but if you do that, you will enter combat as well and then, well ... you have a low-ranked spell that doesn't heal much. Before the 3.0 patch, this might have been good for making sure you used the right amount of mana to heal the right amount of life. Now, with the spells costing a percentage of your mana instead of a straight cost, down-ranking spells is no longer viable and won't help anymore in duels, arenas, dungeons, or anything else =) So, in response to your question: 1) It can be done, although the healing will cost the exact same amount of mana no matter how much is healed, which defeats the purpose unless you don't want to overheal, which brings me to the next point. 2) It can only be done out of combat, due to in-combat restrictions that addons have 3) Macros can't do this, sadly. However, if you know that the target has a lot of HP to restore, you can make a macro that casts, say, Greater Healing on left click, Flash heal on right click, and Lesser Healing on middle click. You just need to know how much HP the person has and then click accordingly. An addon can tell you WHAT button to click to make sure you don't heal more than you need to, but can't assign the spell. Sooo ... That's all I got Sorry I can't make your dream come true, but at least some of this information can help you out and make you can think of something else to do Although it's not what you are asking, on of my next projects will be a healing addon, and it will be done in a way no other healing addon has been done before ... and will make healing fun =) Can't talk about it yet, but it will be popping out soon, after the LS project goes public

Wow thanx for the info, i guess i should read those update patch notes once in a while lol. i took a 2 year break and everything seems so different now, i think im gonna turn into an old person and start to reminisce ... back when i was your level, you couldn't buy your epic mount spell....
ps. i eagerly look forward to your healer add-on, i've played most of your games and they rock ;D. and for LS i don't think i can say just how much i rely on it, it's one of the most important mods i use. i'd sooo be lost if i never came across it by accident searching for anything that would help me play my pally better
THANK YOU
