This might be the dumbest question ever, but have you ever thought of making changes to the Sphere (inner and outter) settings so that the bars could expand out of the sphere shape? Easiest way to describe this is the way they did health/mana in Kingdom hearts. This would make it possible to print percentages or actual health values directly on the bar. KH Screenshot here, so you can see what I'm tryin to say. I like how they split the end of the health bar into half/half for health and mana, so that you don't have 2 big bars going around the sphere. www.pcsx2.net/public/KHII_01.jpg

I was actually tempted to make a Kingdom Hearts style player portrait at one point which would do exactly what you described, but as a stand alone addon, not as a part of LunarSphere. For LS, the idea of having the bars protrude out of the sphere pushes the design away from the original goal of creating a universal version of the sphere addons that are currently class specific.
In the future, I might look at different designs for the "main sphere" to be a standard player portrait in WOW (with the bars instead of gauges), a KH2 inspired design, and other ideas. Due to the fact that the buttons wrap around the sphere (initially, unless the user detaches them), having the bars pop out might get in the way. I do see your point though, for having the text appear on the bar. It would be easier that way.
So, to answer your question: Yes, I have thought about it... but I don't know if it would work well or not =( I guess the future will tell. ;D

Cool, thanks for the quick reply! =) Basically, I would eventually hope to move to a addon situation where LS is one of my only addons. I currently use LS as my Unit frame for my Player w/ x-perl as my UF for party/target/tot, etc. The limitations are there, but LS is so genius that I use it anyways =) Posting a few screenshots...merely to show that LS can be used for UF and Action bars! i even made it so that my Menu bar (Map, Char screen, LFG, etc. are all in one pop out menu) Looking at the screenshots....Yes, I know my rogue has bad gear. I just ding'd 70 a few days ago with him. this just happens to be one of my more heavily LS'd UIs. Screenies: First one is while I'm "at rest" or not in combat. Second one is what it looks like while i'm pvping or fighting something. From the center out, its Targ and then Targ of Targ. (I just happen to have myself targetted.)

Not bad. I, too, have my UI very empty since LS takes care of everything. I'll still be looking at things I can do for those who want to use LS for their player portrait or that main purpose. It will take a while though.

The cooldown counter is actually just an addon called "Cooldown" I stumbled upon it forever long ago when I was picking apart some scrub's compilation from curse. I'm not sure if you can still find it.
