Moongaze: Will you be adding "add-on" modules that will automatically configure LunarSphere for a specific class? While I love how this mod is turning out I would still prefer it if the mod itself modified all of it's options to the class it is being used for.
Yeah, I'm lazy that way.

Yes, there will be pre-sets. Hopefully I can get a pre-set template creator in Stage 4 or 5 (I think I will need to finish Stage 5 before this thing goes public, there's been a bunch of new features that need to be added, more than I anticipated). The idea will be this:
When the last stage pops out before the addon goes public, I'll have a "Save Template" feature in the debug mode. This will dump all the information in LunarSphere that I need to create pre-made template. People can then e-mail me the templates and I will add them into the current testing version. I want there to only be one pre-set per class, so if there are several versions of the same class, I'll let people try them all out and we'll vote which one becomes the default. Knowing that I won't be able to please everyone with the default setup, I will include an "Import/Export" feature in the final version that will take custom templates as well.
Sadly, with templates, there is the chance that a template will be created that will not have EVERY spell and ability assigned. An example would be a holy priest making their template and assigning everything that they have. Since they don't have the shadow priest talents, they won't add the specific spells you get from that tree.
In order for the template to work, whoever makes the templates HAVE to have a level 70 character, and they should log onto a PTR server, add every spell that they have, respec, add the new spells, respec, etc etc. Make sure every spell possible is accounted for. If people, for some reason, don't have some gold on their character and they're level 70 ... I guess I could float some of my PTR money to them to take care of it (not that I need it, it's a PTR for crying out loud).
This also brings into the mix the problem of new spells that Blizzard adds in the future. We would need to remake each template when that time comes (simple enough, just load up the default template for your class, add the new stuff, export).
I can always add a little bit of code that crawls through the players spellbook when they use the template, and if ANY spell is not utilized, it would be dropped into the first available button it finds. Not ideal, of course, since your new "OMGWTFNERFPLZKTHX" spell might be placed in, say, your mage's teleport menu list. But, at least you can move it if that's the case.
I will probably make the addon load from the template if no button data currently exists. That way, once you have button data, the templates are not used. Of course, to continue along the line of my way of handling memory management, all templates will be deleted from memory after loadup, so you don't have another 50-100k of data just chilling, taking up space while you're running WOW.
Sound good? Ideas? Feedback?

That sounds like an amazing plan. Thank you so much for being such a meticulous programmer.

That's correct. I won't be making a template My sphere will be custom anyway, so I have no need for a template ;D

IMO there shouldnt be any class templates. Even tho all mages will use same things on their spheres but they will perfer it to be placed and messed in different ways. You should make templates like "portal menu", "gem menu", "armor menu", "demon summon menu". So you just pick up that templated drop on w/e betton you want and it works. Using such templates will be not as boring as setting up sphere from zero and there wont be "omg this mage template sux i want my portal menu on other side".

True, but the template would be just that: a template. They could always move stuff around later or delete stuff. Maybe instead of automatically setting the template to the sphere, the user can goto the settings and "assign" a template, and change it to meet what they might want. It's still something that a lot of people have asked for. It might be best to just have it as an optional thing, so I don't force it down peoples' throats

When i first used Lunar Sphere, while i did not mind at all, i did have to go through the trouble with my shaman to find each of the the totems for earth across the three tabs in my spell book. It prob took me all in all about 15 minutes because i kept overlooking some totems. I can see how dragging a "earth totem" menu from the configuration to one of the outer spheres and automatically have all of it's children menus or something along those lines. Then again, its really not such a big deal since you can do a search such as this on wowhead and sort it and then setup your totems (wish i knew this when i first setup lunarsphere ) I think it's a nice-to-have, but if it will delay stages 4 and/or 5, i say you defer this functionality to a version 1.1 of the public version.

i prefer making my own menus, some-people may prefer pre-made settings but thats like using a mod collection u may get something in it that U might not use or need.

I could also add, in the "Sphere Template" tab or whatever I decide to call it, "Fill sphere with all spells" ... ahah. This would crawl through your spell book and pick each spell and assign it to the sphere and into menus of the sphere, so you have it all there and you just drag them to their new location. That way, no spells that were hidden, and you can delete the ones you don't need. But yeah, I don't want to delay the stages any more than I need to. Then again, I might have to put development on hold for a little bit if I can't fix my computer. It has a very odd overheating issue that I can't seem to nail. I'm heading to the store tonight after work to buy a copper sheet to put between my GPU and the heatsink (It'll be GPU, Arctic Silver, copper sheet, arctic silver, heatsink). My laptop has a VERY small gap of air on the GPU thanks to a poorly designed cooling system in this MS-1029. *sigh*
