This might be a dumb question, but It would be a bit hard to figure this out since theres no tooltips on the buttons.
Does Lunarsphere automatically link the highest spell rank when you learn a spell?
If I had put rank 4 of Mind Blast into the Lunarsphere, and I learned rank 5, would it automatically change to rank 5?
I was just curious because the button linked to a wand doesn't change when you get a different style of wand, like it does with the original wow UI, not like that's important or anything.

The way the secure button actions work in WOW require that if you assign a button "Smite" it will automatically be the highest rank. So yeah, when you update with a new level of your spells, the buttons will automatically use the strongest level.
Normally, if you drag the "shoot wand" or "wand attack" or whatever it's called on the spellbook, it will shoot with whatever wand you have equiped. The icon, however, will stay the same as it was first assigned. Basically, when the button is loaded from the saved settings, the button art is loaded from the saved button art image. I'll be changing the button loading code to double-check the art, and if it is different, to update it. That way, macros which undergo a new icon change and the shoot command will update properly.
... of course, I'll need to also put some code to update the icon if it changes during gameplay (like you equip your new wand). That stuff will come, hopefully before the public release ;D

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but it touched on the subject I was going to ask about. ;D
Do I understand right that it's not possible to put a downranked spell on a button because WoW automatically upgrades them? I was trying to do this today and was going to request it as a feature... but if I'm reading this right it doesn't look like it can be done.

WoW automatically upgrades a spell, if the former rank is assigned to a button. However, if you manually assign a lower spell to a button, this will not be upgraded - so you only should have to have a look at the highest spells (and, of course, the lower ones you may want to upgrade manually). LS should adapt this in exactly the same manner.

I'm not sure this is the case. I was attempting to assign Rank 1 Consecrate to a button yesterday, but clicking the button would cast the highest rank.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe I was dragging it from the spellbook straight to the button instead of entering edit mode and assigning it to a specific mouse click. I'll have to give it another try when I get home from work.

LS Automatically assigns the highest rank spell just like WOW does. Moongaze is going to implement the ability add lower rank spells as well (if I recall correctly). There is a thread on this discussion somewhere in this huge forum. @ Haggo only way I have found to override using the highest rank spell is to create a macro and even then if I level and get a higher rank I have to go back and edit it to the lower rank again. If there is another way to assign a lower rank spell please share the details Ele

I'm sorry, I definitely need to make myself more clear. I'll try to do it better: Using the original WoW bars, the spell upgrades on a button if the previous rank is assigned to it; smaller ranks don't upgrade at all. (At least I think to remember this on my druid. "Careful Phrasing" (TM)) LS will adapt this functionality as soon as Moon implements it - I remember having read this (most likely in the same thread as you, Elesarr). At the moment, it is not implemented. I should have written something like "It will be implemented". (How embarrassing to be unable to say what I want ... ) *hides in his snail-shell*

Well, as of now, LS does use the highest rank spell, no matter what. If you drag a low rank spell, it assigns the "name" of the spell, not the rank. So, when the "name" is used in WOW, it automatically looks up the highest rank and casts it.
I will probably be adding the ability to assign a specific rank of a spell in the future. In the Button Settings window, there will be another text box next to the dropdown list for the click type. There, if you leave it blank, it will use the highest rank. If you set it to a number, it will use that rank only, even if you level it.
This will be added some day, maybe I can do it near the end of stage 5 =)

Macro seems to be the best way anyway as u can take advantage of being able to cut back on the effect of latency on ur spells, so just make a macro, for example the original idea would be: #showtooltip Mind Blast (Rank 4) /stopcasting /cast Mind Blast (Rank 4) and in it goes into lunarsphere ......too easy

Hm guess this is where this goes then. Question about the whole "Mage making water/food" thing. Um. I'm strange. (Kill me now) and I'd LIKE to be able to put up every possible rank. So its there and I dont have to go searching for it. But when I did this, it just made the highest rank. Is there anyway I can change that to make the rank I put in there? So I can have First rank water/food. Then second rank water/food. or whatever? Or am I going to have to deal. Not a bug..but..it bugs me. Posted in Bugs and Errors. >.<

For now, you'll probably have to make a macro that casts the specific rank and assign the macro. I know, it's a pain, but I haven't added rank support yet (that's coming soon though!)
Thanks for reminding me, hehe
