The progress of your LS is swift & sweet!!!! Love it!!
I have a suggestion for the Default settings. I guess it will make a lot of uneeded buttons tho, but there might be ways to trim it?
After reading your post
Yeah, I was thinking of default settings, but I need to think of a good way to do it that won't rely too much on localization. The nice thing about LunarSphere is that there is no localization needed to identify spells and items, which Serenity and Cryolysis needs. Serenity made me cry inside when I was updating it to 2.0 standards, because any spell I wanted it to recognize, I had to find out the localized name of it for each locale. That wasn't fun =(
Still, I'll try adding the idea to LunarSphere when the addon is almost finished. I think the best way (I can think of) for default settings would be a SERIOUSLY bare minimum setup for the class. An example would be:
Priest Buttons:
* Health/Mana Potion button
* Food/Drink button
* Mount button
* Hearthbutton
* Three menu buttons (One with an attack spell icon, one with a healing icon, and one with a buff icon, all button in menu would be blank)
* Dispell button
* Innerfire button
* Fade button
Shaman Buttons:
* Health/Mana Potion button
* Food/Drink button
* Mount button
* Hearthbutton
* Six menu buttons (Healing, Attack, Earth, Wind, Fire, Water)
Mage Buttons:
* Health/Mana Potion button
* Food/Drink button
* Mount button
* Hearthbutton
* Three menu buttons (Fire, Ice, Arcane)
* Conjure Food/Drink button
* Sheeping button
* Dispell button
... I could do those easy. The reagents can be done also (since I can just supply the item id of the regent to start with).
My only concern is how the addon will function with a setup sphere, for a new character. I haven't thought of implementing a system that will skip a button if the item isn't found. Right now, it just grays it out. A new character will have a full sphere, but everything will be grayed out =)
I'll look into a different way to anchor and show spells and stuff that the character actually has ... but that will be at a later time, probably when I decide to tackle the pre-set sphere layouts.
Oh, and I was thinking about an import/export idea. Maybe that might be the best way of doing it. I can have people make a "default" for their class and export the settings and send me the file. I can then import them into the finished version as a "default," built-in setting, and we'll take care of that problem as well.
What do you think of that idea?
I would like to suggest the following.
You have stated there will be an option to Backup / Restore configs. Perfect
There is also a WIPE settings option.. Perfect.
* Add a 3rd option to read all your spells from the spellbook & then add them to the buttons.
There are several other addons capable of doing just that, one example is the Decursive addons.
This will be Cluttering, but provides a fast & easy way of doing the initial setup for ANY character. I think there is even a way to readout what skilltree the spells come from, to be able to sort them out on 3 Menubuttons. 1 for each school of skill.
Just a suggestion on the defaults thingy from my part
Ofc there can still be a LS Default for each class with the basic things you have listed. But those still leave big holes that lots of the Lazy addon junkies (95% of the addon junkies are to lazy to set things up... hehe)
Keep the good work up!!!
