I have posted this on the ace forums to no avail! I am so sad.
First, I use FuBar and enjoy all of the information it provides via its plugins. However, I really wish that the tooltips could be suppressed unless they are clicked, or a specific key was pressed on mouseover. Even more, I want to be able to set that suppression per plugin, or per bar
IE. I want to be able to make it so FuBar - LocationFu requires a click or a specific key pressed to show its massive, though incredibly informative tooltip--but Fubar - Duratek can show me it's much smaller tooltip on mouseover. Additionally, if I want my bottom bar--or second bottom bar (if I had one) to require click or shift+mouseover on all plugins, that would hopefully be an option as well.
Will there be flames for me? (half of fubar IS teh tooltips, y would you want 2 not see thems?!?!?!?!!) Or, are you, reader, inspired now to build this addon? (o thnk u, scaredofspiders, u have the bestest ideas. plz give us more!) <(^ ^)>

Seriously, I'm the only one who's irritated by the tooltips but loves the information at the same time? Darn.

I believe one could hook into the "mouse over" feature of the fubar "button" that is on the bar and, if it is moused over, will auto-hide the tooltip so it never appears and store a small piece of data that will keep track of the actual tooltip. Then, if the user holds CTRL or ALT or SHIFT and clicks the button, the tooltip will be shown with the auto-hide addon invoking the show command again. That's one way of doing it at least, but it would be global for all fubar plug-ins. To make it on a per-plug-in basis, one would need to check the name of the plug-in against a list and hide or show as needed. ... can be done, but I don't know if I'll get around to it any time soon. We'll see Maybe I'll release it as a FuBar plug-in, haha.
