This is, probably, the only gripe I have with LS, and I've just about worked around it anyhow with additional addons (Quartz and macros). Is there the possibility to have icons reflect the global cooldown? And is it possible to have icons show states, like that shiney auto-cast animation? If not, then I'll see how much I can wrench out of the macro system; otherwise I'll wait

This is, probably, the only gripe I have with LS, and I've just about worked around it anyhow with additional addons (Quartz and macros). Is there the possibility to have icons reflect the global cooldown? You mean, instead of have the text countdown, to have some kind of effect on the icon to reflect when the spell/item/whatever can't be used due to the GC? With the normal Blizzard action buttons, we have that radial cooldown display that slowly (or quickly) undarkens the image. Is that what you are talking about? Sadly, I can't do anything like that with the circle design I have. Other addons that have circular buttons, most likely due to cyCircled, can have the circle button with the radial cooldown effect, but that is because the button is still square, it just has an outside border that makes it look circular. I do that too, but I also force the icon to be a circle as well, preventing "edges" from popping out from a square. If I add the cooldown model to the button, you'll see the edges of the square sticking out, and it doesn't look good. I have thought about how to get a circular radial cooldown and have even tried editing the cooldown 3D model that is used for that special effect, but I failed pretty hard I have one idea I would like to try and if I like it, it might be appear in the next version of LS. Blizzard finally gave addon authors the ability to find out if a spell is the currently active spell again (they removed it for some reason a while ago, but left the feature for action buttons. Too bad LS doesn't use action buttons, haha). I'll be adding a highlight on the currently selected spell (the ones waiting for a target, for example) very soon. As for the auto-cast, I can't think for the life of me what spells have this. I know it exists for the pet actions and it has that sparkle that moves around the border (this is a 3D model, so it will always be square ... boo, hiss). Is that the effect you're talking about? What spells do that currently? I can do the auto-shoot animation (just "flashes" the icon), and will be adding that support soon as well. Did I cover everything? Or did I miss something or totally dodge another thing? ;D

Yup - you got it. I figured you had already given these thing a lot of thought, but I was hoping it wasn't some bizarre difficult thing set up by Blizzard.
I am just trying to set up my hunter's key-bindings, and I was wondering about the pet auto-cast animation. The fact that it's a 3D animation kinda boggles my mind, since you'd think it'd be a simple sprite or something... ah well.
Thanks a lot for the information! I'll see if I can make a macro that detects what type of pet is out and when L-clicked turns auto-cast on.

Do hunters or warlocks ever use the pet bar to actually tell the pet to attack with a specific spell or ability? Or do they just use it to toggle the auto-attack/cast stuff on and off? With the pet buttons that I introduced with version 700, they cast the spell, or left-click it. If people just right click stuff (with the exception being the attack, defend, passive, follow stuff), I might make the pet buttons just toggle stuff, instead of cast stuff.
I might need to make toggle pet buttons also, for those that want to toggle AND cast with the button *shrug*
Yeah, the auto-cast is a 3D model animation. One thing I could do is make my own animation with a sprite (cycle between 4 images). Since only a couple buttons would be using it, the affect on the FPS shouldn't be much.
The cooldown idea I had was to have a gray filled circle on the button. As the cooldown got smaller (or closer to being not on cooldown), the circle would shrink. This seems to look okay, unless the cooldown text is showing. If that's the case, you can't see the cooldown circle when it's at 40% to 50% or less left on cooldown.
I could also have the icon be BLACK and then fade in to normal color over the cooldown time, That would work as well. Then, when the cooldown is up, it can have a flash appear for a split second.
Or, the same thing, but instead of being black, it would be 100% transparent and slowly gain it's opacity again till its 100% visible.
Or I can have a giant cat jump out and eat the button, then spit it out when it's ready to be used again...

At least I do it with my lock, e.g. when playing pvp it may be a bad idea to auto-spell-lock an enemy caster with your felhunter - bad style of play. Or use the succubus' charm spell. Or ... you get the idea. I'd fancy this version (if only to see you introduce it). ;D
